Partners Working For You
Since 1997, Partners in Development, an IRS Section 501(c)(3) non-profit public foundation, has created and implemented a number of successful programs to assist island residents and their communities in the areas of education, economic development, environmental issues and community health.
Our Mission
The foundation is focused on meeting today's environmental, social, and educational challenges through application of Hawaii's timeless values and traditional practices. These include the ahupuaa system of land and environmental management, problem-solving through hooponopono, hoonaauao (traditional mentorship in education), and the values of aloha (sharing), onipaa (perseverence), lōkahi (unity), and mālama āina (love for the land). Of particular interest are under-served segments of our society, such as preschool children and their caregivers, and economically-depressed communities and families. Because of Hawaii's unique environment and natural resources, the foundation is also committed to expanding the values of environmental stewardship and the use of natural processes for environmental remediation and the development of responsible and sustainable agricultural technologies.
Moving Forward
In addition to managing its current community-based projects, Partners in Development keeps an eye on the future. Already in the planning stages are programs focusing on rural economic development, special needs education, and minority health.
Our Commitment
Partners in Development is committed to strengthening our communities through the strategic implementation of innovative ideas. As we focus on the long-term success of our program participants and the communities we serve, we hope to instill a sense that those who succeed have, in turn, a responsibility to serve others in need.
