Primary Purpose
The Direct Care Counselor (Night Assistant) will provide back up support to the Direct Care Counselor for the 11 pm. to 7 am. shift (8 hours). The Direct Care Counselor (Night Assistant) will work under the guidelines of the foundation policies and procedures, licensing, and accreditation requirements.Essential Duties
- Be knowledgable of the vision, mission, and goals of the Ke Kama Pono Program and PIDF and consistently work to fulfill them.
- Assists in the activities for residents that will increase their cultural awareness and enhance their self-esteem.
- Assists the Lead Direct Care Counselor to oversee residents in their day-to-day routines in the house.
- Assist in the delivery of services, and activities for the residents in the program.
Other Duties

16 to 24 hours per week; the part time Direct Care Counselor (Night Assistant) will alternate working 24 hrs. every other week, and 16 on the other weeks. This will add up to 40 hours every two weeks (time will depend on shift worked).Working Conditions
Working within the Safe House residence, light clerical duty, housekeeping, and support work.Equipment Use
Personal computer, printer, copier, fax, files, laminator, automobile.Mental, Physical and Communication Demands
Strong organizational skills and ability to focus; great attention to detail; good oral and written communication skills required; and ability to maintain confidentiality. Able to lift up to 40 lbs on a daily basis.Minimum Qualification Requirements
- A.A. degree and 1+ years working with young children and youth and/or commensurate experience in related fields.
- Must complete criminal and traffic abstracts.
- As per DHS contract requires the completion of the Child Abuse and Neglect Clearance and FBI Fingerprinting.
