Program: Na Pono No Na ‘Ohana
Reports to: Site Manager
Primary Responsibility:
Responsible for planning and implementing the program designed curriculum for caregivers and children for the Childhood Education and “OLA” Ohana Learning Components. Assure that a quality program is being delivered by working with the project team to ensure that the needs of caregivers and children are met. Assist in the pre and post test of caregivers and children.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Plan and provide indoor and outdoor activities that foster learning, literacy, and language skills as assigned.
- Assist in the assessment of participants.
- Assess students using formal and informal tools.
- Maintains necessary and required records that relate to students.
- Maintain and monitor supplies and educational materials.
- Maintains a safe, comfortable, and nurturing atmosphere.
- Communicate effectively with team in the planning and execution of lesion plans.
- Assist Site Manager as needed.
- Turn in monthly lesson plans and weekly reports in a timely and acceptable manner.
- Be knowledgeable of the vision, mission and goals of the program and PIDF and consistently work to fulfill them.
- Able to lift 40 pounds on a regular, daily basis.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Education or related field with at least two years experience of being a lead teacher in a family/child learning environment or in an Early Education setting.
- Experience working with communities, focusing on families.
- Any certification or training that included working with Native Hawaiian families; CDA certified.
