Get Ready to Read Workshop held at Hawaii Kai Golf Course banquet room
Partners in Development Foundation’s “Family /Child Learning” programs: Nā Pono No Nā ‘Ohana; Tūtū and Me and Ka Pa’alana attended an outstanding workshop on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at the Hawaii Kai Golf Course banquet room. The workshop was given by Karen Golembeski and Sally Sinclair from the National Center for Learning Disabilities in New York City, titled “Get Ready to Read” (GRTR). This stimulating, informative, research based workshop focused on early literacy.
The goal of this workshop was to provide participants with skill building activities, research based information, and an easy-to-administer, research-based screening tool, in order to help them prepare children to learn to read and write.
GRTR!’s program vision is that all preschool children will have the skills they need to learn to read when they enter kindergarten. For more information GRTR’s web site is www.GetReadytoRead.org.
