The ‘Ike Ea Program started at its maiden school, Laupahoehoe High and Elementary School, on Monday, March 3, 2008. The two-week program taught engineering and electrical concepts to fifth grade students. Daily hands-on activities such as building and weight testing a popsicle stick bridge, an egg drop, building circuits, and wiring a model house helped to reinforce these concepts. A total of fifteen students participated in this first class. The program culminated with a Parents Night to showcase students’ projects on Friday, March 14, 2008.
