Kupuna Edna Cathcart Comes to Tūtū and Me on Moloka‘i

Aloha from Tūtū and Me on Moloka‘i. Someone very special came to us in the month of March- Kupuna Edna Cathcart from Kamehameha School’s “Na ‘Ike O Nā Kūpuna Program”. She is with us every day at site.
Aunty Edna is the quintessential Kupuna; she sings and plays ‘ukulele for our music and movement activities during circle time, shares her knowledge of Hawaiian Culture with the caregivers, and is spontaneous and fun.
On March 12th and 13th Kupuna went on her first huaka‘i with Tūtū and Me. At the Hawaiian Learning Center at Keawanui on the East End of Moloka‘i, Edna helped keiki plant kalo and played her part in dramatizing the “Enormous Kalo” story. Mahalo to Kamehameha Schools for sending Edna to us.

April is the month for experiencing bird life. Aunty Viola Wichman from Hoolehua brought in some baby chicks and day-old ducklings for the keiki to experience first-hand.
